Recent research conducted by Economic Research Associates (ERA) and the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA) found that one of the key business drivers identified within the visitor attraction market was secondary spend for paying visitors. It found that venue attractions where taking an average of £3.20 per person on catering; £4.31 per person through retail and an average of £1.20 per person from miscellaneous spending.
This theme is expanded on by Andrew Winterbottom, CEO and founder of Saturn Projects, a company responsible for creating visitor attractions and leisure facilities in the UK and abroad, who believes that visitor attractions need to place greater emphasis on motivating and training seasonal staff to maximise visitors' secondary spend.
"Using the best available technology at all points of sale throughout the attraction can help to address both of these important issues", comments David Smith of Kamarin Computers.
"We've designed our KCPOS software to work on the latest touchscreen terminals and to be as easy as possible for both permanent and temporary staff to use", adds David Smith. "The system prompts the operator right through each transaction, making it easy for all up-selling and cross-selling opportunities to be exploited, potentially increasing secondary spend throughout the attraction".
"The new version of KCPOS includes streamlined payment processing for cash and card transactions, including Chip and Pin support, and is fully expandable from a single till system to multiple tills across multiple sites. With seamless links to the major accounting systems KCPOS can deliver major benefits in areas such as efficiency and better customer service", concludes David Smith.
Kamarin will be showcasing KCPOS at The Visitor Experience Show. The show runs from January 24 th through to January 26 th at Earls Court, London.
